Pea nut? [6]

This is what we might call a “found” clue–take an existing word, “peanut,” split it up, and see what the resulting phrase leads to. In this case, someone who is all about them peas–really, this is the thing we most associate with him, for better and worse–is good old Gregor MENDEL, who used peas to plot out the basics of heredity.
