Apparently this is a term for people who grow up surrounded by technology and *not* actresses who play high schoolers when they’re really 30 years old [11]

I didn’t think I would be, but I guess I’m old now. I’m not hip to the slang these kids use. So I really like a backdoor clue like this one that helps to give me some sort of hint as to etymology of the word, real or imagined. I also love the author’s voice here, the star-studded (literally) disbelief and the recognition that, yeah, it’s weird to keep casting adults as high-schoolers.

That’s a long way–but still shorter than this clue–of saying that SCREENAGERS are a thing (and not a Watchamacallit (11)–i.e., a THINGAMAJIG).
